The Box That Opens Into a Stage

The luxury pop-up cosmetic gift box is a rigid flip-top container with a three-dimensional inner structure that rises, unfolds, or expands when the lid is opened – transforming a flat package into a theatrical presentation for cosmetics.

3D Inner Design That Activates When Opened

The defining characteristic of this gift box is the mechanical 3D inner structure – a pop-up mechanism similar to a children's pop-up book, scaled to cosmetic packaging. When the flip-top lid is opened (from closed to 90–180 degrees), linkages, folds, and platforms inside the box move simultaneously.

Rigid Flip-Top Base with Pop-Up Interior

The outer structure is a rigid flip-top box – two rigid panels (base and lid) connected by a fabric or paper hinge, similar to a book or a clamshell case. Core material: high-density paperboard, 1.5–2.5 mm (0.06–0.10") thick.

Rising Platforms and Tiered Displays

The 3D inner design falls into three primary mechanical families. Rising platform (also called "elevator" or "lift"): a platform sits flush with the box floor when closed. As the lid opens, a linkage (paperboard arms or ribbons) pulls the platform upward. At full lid opening (90–180 degrees), the platform is raised 10–40 mm (0.4–1.6 inches), elevating the product above the box walls.

Product Placement and Custom Die-Cut Foam Inserts

Products placed on pop-up platforms must be secured – the pop-up mechanism moves, and unsecured products could slide or fall. Solutions include: die-cut EVA foam inserts (custom foam cavities attached to the pop-up platform – the product is pressed into the foam, which holds it securely even when the platform moves.
